Marleen believes it’s important for children to learn Christian fundamentals in an open and accepting environment where critical thinking and the opportunity to question are encouraged. It is also the goal of the program to help children develop their personal talents and mature through Christian theater, music, arts and crafts, and active worship roles for youth.
In addition to serving as coordinator of children’s education, Marleen is a freelance faith writer who graduated with a mass communications degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She also serves as ministerial assistant at First Christian, as secretary of the Carbondale Interfaith Council, and as a member of the board of Carbondale’s Good Samaritan Ministries.
