Florence M Brown, 98 of. Rt. 327 Londonderry died 4:35 p.m. February 15, in Medical
Center Hospital following a short illness.
She was born August 14th, 1886 in Harrison Township, Vinton County, to William
and Emma Bolar Ackley. On August 25, 192O she married Elmer Brown, who died January
1954.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Evelyn) Reser, Sabina, Mrs. Ray (Blanche)
Short, Lancaster, two sons, `Forrest E. and Vernon A. Brown of Londonderry; eight
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ivy Climer, Frankfort
and a brother Homer Ackley of Chillicothe: She was predeceased by a daughter,
two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Londonderry
and a resident of Vinton County her entire life. After the death of her husband
in 1954, Mrs. Brown and her two sons continued to operate the family farm on
Rt. 327.
Her cheerfulness and pleasant personality was a joy to all who knew and loved
her. Her greatest joy in her life was her children and grandchildren and she
often spoke of how good they were to her.
She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Let fate do her worst, there are relics of joy, bright dreams of the past, which
she cannot destroy; which come in the right time of sorrow and care, ,and bring
back the features that Joy used to wear. Long, long be your heart with such memories
filled like the vase, in which roses have once been distilled, you may shatter
the vase, if you will, but the scent of the roses will hang around it still
