Ackley
The reapers death has again entered our community and taken from us one of our
aged and respected citizens. William Ackley was born in Noble county, Ohio, just
one mile from the county seat August 16, 1836 ,and departed from this life February
18, 1924 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 2 days from infirmaties of old
age.
When but a child of 11 years he moved with his parents to Harrison township,
Vinton county, Ohio, which has been his home until his death. He was united in
marriage to Emily Bolar in 1885. To this union were born seven children, all
of whom are living. He was preceded to the grave in 1903 by his wife.
Surviving him are seven children. Florence Brown of Gillespieville, 0., Columbus
Ackley of North Dakota, Stella-Salt of Columbus, Ohio, Cordo Hise of Frankfort,
Ohio; Homer Ackley, Phoebe McCullough and Iva Stewart all of Chillicothe, Ohio.
There are also nine grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends who will
mourn his departure.
He was a kind and loving father, a good friend and neighbor to all who knew
him. He bore his sickness with patience, and will be sadly missed in his community.
