Michigan Grace Irene Ackley, 77, of Alanson, died Jan. 8, 2003, at
the Emmet County Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Alanson Church of the
Nazarene. The Rev. Janet Luchs and the Rev. David Brantley will officiate and
burial will be in Littlefield Township Cemetery.
Grace was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Saline, Mich., the daughter of Paul and Kathreen
(Bredernitz) Klueter. She grew up in Saline and attended school in Saline where
she graduated from Saline High School. She also received a certificate in real
estate from University of Michigan in Flint.
In 1946, she married Ross Ackley in Saline, and in 1971, Grace and Ross moved
from Milan, Mich., to Alanson, where they have lived since.
Grace worked for Forest Realty.
She was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She volunteered for the
Cancer Foundation and other charities.
Grace took great interest in her family and hosted them for many vacations. Grace
and Ross would take the grandchildren into the woods and teach them about nature.
Grace was affiliated with the Alanson Church of the Nazarene.
She will be remembered with love and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Ross, of Alanson; son, David Ackley and his wife,
Pam; daughter, the Rev. Janet Luchs; four granddaughters, Jennifer Ackley, Michelle
Ackley, Lisa Luchs and Kelley Luchs; sisters, Dora Emery, Norinne Kohler; and
brother, Robert Klueter. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Alber
and Jane Martin.
Contributions in memory of Grace may be made to the Alanson Church of the Nazarene.
Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, Jan. 11,
at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene.
