CROCKETT, Texas, Apr 5 9AP)- Three more relatives of a white woman who asserted Dave Tillis, 52, a negro insulted her, were arrested in the Trinity River bottoms Tuesday and charged with the murder of the negro victim of a lynching Friday night.
The three men arrested were Rube Ackley, 35, cousin of the woman and son of W A Ackley, 74, who was charged Monday with the crime; R L Downs, 64, and Albert Smith, all farmers.
Paul Ackley, 24, brother of the woman, and W A Ackley are at liberty under $2500 bonds each on charges filed against them Monday.
Bond of $2500 each was allowed the trio arrested Tuesday by Justice of the Peace Houston Betts, before whom formal murder charges were filed by Sheriff J L Hazlett, who went into the bottomlands to continue the investigation into the lynching of Tillis.
