  8. First settled by the Dutch in the 17th Century and later acquired by the British, New York is arguably one of the most important states in the history of the United States. Compiled by Arthur and Nancy Kelly, this collection of birth and baptism records was taken from the New York church registers of 1660-1916. It contains over 75,000 records from Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, Rockland, Ultser, and Westchester counties and provides details on more than 220,000 individuals. In addition to the child's name and date of birth or baptism, researchers can find information on parents' names, names of sponsers, and notes included in these vital records. The information in this database was compiled from the book, California Blue Book, or State Roster, 1911 compiled by Charles Forrest Curry, Secretary of State, Printed at the State Printing office, Sacramento, (no date given). This book contains a listing of more than 14,000 state and municipal employees of the State of California for the year 1911. The listing includes employees of various state institutions and municipal governments down to the city levels. There are listing of employees of most state institutions such as hospitals, universities, prisons, even fish and game wardens (California Blue Book or State Roster 1911. State Printing Office, Sacramento CA, 1911.).
