She was born in Gainesville, Texas, Aug. 5, 1920, to George and Nancy Betts Ackley.
She married Dyton Matthews Sept. 19, 1942, in Dallas, Texas.
She grew up in Gainesville where she graduated in 1938. Soon after, she moved to Denton, Texas, and attended business school.
She worked in Dallas for S.W. Bell. She then moved to Madill where she worked for the Headstart program.
In Madill, she was a member of the Madill Roundup Club, Madill FFA Parents Club and was a Sunday school teacher for the Presbyterian Church.
In 1969 she and her husband moved to Stillwater where she worked for the Fire Protection Services where she typed the publication manuals.
She later moved to the College of Business and worked there until she retired in 1982.
In 1999 she and her husband moved to Tulsa to a retirement home and have lived there since.
She loved reading, needlepoint, sewing and crocheting. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved to take care of her family and she will be missed by all those who love her.
She was a member of C and O Travel Group, Madill Round Up and the Madill Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her parents, one sister and one brother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Benny Matthews and his wife, Megan, of Stillwater and Dean Matthews and his wife, Kelly, of Tulsa; one daughter, Mary Kay Napolitano and her husband, Pat, of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, Marcus Matthews of Sapulpa, Barrett Matthews of Stillwater, Lisa Napolitano of New York, Landon Matthews of Guam, Christen Matthews of Tulsa, Bonnie McClarnon of Stillwater, Shannon McClarnon of Stillwater, Dexter Card of Tulsa and Katie Card, also of Tulsa; and two brothers, Pete Ackley and Karl Ackley and his wife, Anita, all of Dallas.

Mr and Mrs George H Ackley, 4128 Bowser, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Katherine Louise Ackley to Dyton B Matthews, United States Army Air Corps, stationed at Love field.
The wedding took place Sept 19 at high noon at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs Matthews was given in marriage by her father. She carried a white Bible topped with an orchid. Attendants were Miss Delores Ramsey and Ross Howell, Dr Harlin J Roper officiated.
