Rosary for Mrs. Edna Aston Ackley, 81, of 5931 Richmond, a retired secretary and bookkeeper, will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Ed. C. Smith & Bro. Funeral Chapel. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro, Jack County.
She was a secretary of the circulation department of the Central Insurance Agency from 1935 to 1945 when she became the agency's bookkeeper until her retirement in 1969.
She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Ackley was born on the boards. His parents Mr and Mrs W D Ackley, were members of the Merry Madcaps company then playing in Bowie Texas, and the future actor was born at near-by Jacksboro. He was playing in shows with his parents when he was 4, and after he started scholl he played tent shows and in stock during the summer. He later did juvenile leads with his mother's stock company, the Edna Ackley Players. He came to Dallas in 1936 and in addition to work with the Monroe Hopkins stock company did exhibition ballroom dancing and was a singing emcee. He was in the service for five years in the infantry, air forces and special services. While in the latter group he toured the Eighth Service Command in the Army show, “Fun's A-Poppin.” He and Jeanie Gunn, who takes the ingénue leads with the Babb company, appear in vocal duets between acts.
