Hensley Ackley was born on March 28, 1906, in Indian Territory, the daughter
of Carroll and Kity L. Blount Hensley. She died on Oct. 27, 1986 in Sayre Memorial
Hospital, at the age of 80. She was married to Reed D. Acklley on July 12, 1924
in Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, OK and made their home on a farm near Hammon.
Reed preceded her in death on April 25, 1958. She was a member of the Hammon
Church of Christ. She devoted her life to working with the Cheyenne-Arapaho Indian
people. Mrs. Ackley served many years as Treaurer of the Red Hill Cemetery Assn.
She is survied by two daughers, June and Joan Tomberlin, one son-in-law, Leon
Tomberlin, all of Hammon; three grandsons and their wives, Mike and Pam Tomberlin,
Dean and Terri Tomberlin all of Hammon and David and Kay Tomberlin of Duncan;
six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, one
brother, one sister, one daughter, Jean and one granddaughter. Burial was in
the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, OK
