After serving his country, he returned to earn his degree from Ohio Universi- ty. Until his retirement, he was em- ployed by the Kaiser Aluminum Company for 33 years and received the NASA Public Service Award for exceptional service to the National Aeronautics and Space Administra- tion's Shuttle Program. He resided in several cities before coming to North Carolina and was an active member of the church and supporter of the Boys Clubs. He is survived by his wife, Joan Turner; daughter, Kathi Bentley and husband Bill of Raleigh; neph- ew, Allan Lust and his wife Sandy of Columbus, OH; nieces, Patty Martin and husband Dwayne of Grand Blanc, MI, and Jerilynn Zepp and husband Heinz of Linden, MI. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Mrs. Merle Lust (Mildred) of Marion, OH, and Mrs. Russell McCoy (Donna) of Grand Blanc, MI. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd, at 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, 7209 Glenwood Avenue. Burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park with Mili- tary Honors. Officiating will be Wal- ter Ross of Colonial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A strong Christian, he will be re- membered as a man who gave a full measure of devotion to God, family and country He served in the military in the US Marines.²⁵⁹
