Rex Ackley, 46 of 747 Moxahala avenue was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon
at 3 o'clock in a fall of slate at the Earl J. Jones Coal Co. Mine No..1, near
Stovertown.
Ackley sustained a crushed skull when the slate threw him against a cutter.
An autopsy was conducted last night at the Keck funeral home by Coroner Ray
McDaniel, assisted by Dr. William F Sealover, mine physician.
Mr. Ackley had been a resident of Zanesville for the past seven months, coming
to this city from Pomeroy. He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Zanesville.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Gene and Paul Ackley, and two daughters
Mary and Ann Ackley, all of the home, and four brothers, Ernest Ackley of Marion
O.; Earl of Nebraska; Ray of San Francisco, Calif., and Vern Ackley, of Athens,
Ohio.
The body rests at the Keck funeral home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete
early today. He was buried on 8 Apr 1938 in Memorial Park, Zanesville, Muskingum

Mrs. Maude Ackley, of 1223 Lake drive, and Floyd Porter, of New Straitsville,
were married last Friday in New Lexington Methodist parsonage with Rev. H.H.
Wilbur officiating. There were no attendants. Mr. Porter is employed at New
Straitsville. After a trip to Kentucky Mr. and Mrs. Porter are residing on Lake
drive. She lived at 2301 Linden Ave in Zanesville, Muskingum , Ohio on 5 Mar
