Shade, OH - Mary Ackley, 88, a life-long resident of Athens County, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains.

Born March 25, 1914 in Frost, she was the daughter of the late Byron H. and Catherine Wyers Doane.

She and her husband ran a bottled milk route in Athens County in the 1930s and 1940s. They sold canned milk after that until the 1970s. She was then a beef farmer. She also loved gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose (Manuel) Grueser of Shade; a grandson, Randy (Deborah) Snyder of Shade; a great-grandson, Allen Snyder of Shade; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Frances Ervin of Athens.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard H. Ackley; two sisters, Agnes Phillips, Polly Brickles and two infant sisters; four brothers, John, James, Riley and Arnold Doane; two nephews, James and Jake
Doane.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:00am at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens with Malcolm Grueser officiating. Burial will be in Burson Cemetery.
