$500 Loss Listed in Biggest Marion County Stock Theft in Five Years
Theft of eight head of cattle valued at nearly $500 from a field on the H C
Ackley farm six miles north of Marion on the Bucyrus pike was reported today
to the sheriff's department.
Mr. Ackley told Deputy Sheriff W H Willis who investigated that the cattle
disappeared some time since Wednesday afternoon. They were in a large herd which

and found that eight were missing. Deputy Willis said that he and Mr. Ackley
made a check-up of the neighborhood but were unable to find any trace of the
cattle. The method used to take the cattle had not been determined today. Deputy
Willis said he could find no trace of tire tracks in the field and that the possibility
the thieves herded the cattle out of the field and loaded them on a truck parked
on the Bucyrus pike.
The field is located about three fourths of a mile west of the Bucyrus pike
and there is a woods between the field and the highway.
