On February 8th, some of us took the Red Cross Basic Aid Training and earned
our First Aid Badge. We learned how to do "rescue breathing", to splint
breaks, etc.
On February 21st, we held our Thinking Day Celebration with our Little
Sister Troop Daisy #12. Our troop represented three different countries,
Italy, Germany and Greece. The Daisy Troop represented Mexico. We gave
information on our countries and some did skits. The Daisies sang the "Mexican
Counting Song" dressed in suropes and sombreos they had made.
On March 13th, our Service Unit hosted a Father/Daughter Roller Skate Event.
We skated from 6-8:30pm. Most of the dads that were there even skated.
We all had lots of fun!
On March 22, we went on a camping trip to Birch Lake and earned our Arctic
Survival Patch. One of the dad's volunteered his time to teach us how to
survive in the cold. We also did some cross country skiing, sledding, and
we also walked across the frozen lake. That was pretty neat, but a bit
scarey. We all had fun and would like to thank the dad who helped out!
On April 16, we held our Annual Baby Shower. It's given to the first baby
girl born to an Eielson couple on or closest to Girl Scout Birthday, March
12. The little girl was born on March 12 at 1:26am! Each troop in our Service
Unit makes or purchases a gift and presents it to the mom and baby along
with a song, if they like. After all the gifts are presented, we enjoy
cake and punch. Our troop made the Guest Book! We also made it a Mother/Daughter
Event. It was a very special evening.
We also sent 3 cases of Girl Scout Cookies to our troops in Saudi Arabia
as a Service Project. We're sure they will enjoy them.
On May 17, we attended the Service Unit Briding Ceremony. We only had one
girl bridging but we got to watch our little sister troop, Daisy Troop
#12, bridge to Brownies. We had cupcakes and punch after the ceremony.
