You will find a description of what is called, "Friendship Boxes." The girls purchase the items to be put into the boxes and, as a troop, can decide where in the world they would like to send them. It's fun when they include a short letter telling the person who receives the box a little bit about them self and they might want to include a school photo! The girls might even receive a letter back from the recipient. They also decide whether the box should go to a girl or a boy. After the boxes are filled, you return them to the Red Cross and they will send them to the place you have picked.
The Red Cross can order these boxes in quantities of 25. Contact your local Red Cross office about the details in your area.
I just wanted to pass along a worthwhile and inexpensive community service project that doesn't take a lot of effort.
