Red Cross Friendship Box Contents

Please choose one of the following categories and decide what you would like to put in your box. Remember, the boxes are only 8"w x 3"d x 2"h (20.32cm x 7.62cm x 5.08cm), so they aren't very big. You may also include your picture and a short note to the person who will be receiving the box. Maybe they will write to you and you will have a pen pal!

The items that go into the box must be NEW. The boxes MUST NOT contain articles that have a religious or patriotic connotation, articles that are potentially dangerous (i.e., knives, scissors or other sharp objects), edibles, liquids, coins or currency, or warlike toys.
 
Educational
  • Pencil with eraser (unsharpened) 
  • Eraser 
  • Box of crayons or colored pencils 
  • Small ruler (6" or metric equivalent) 
  • Small pad of paper or notebook 
  • Pencil sharpener 
  • Ball-point or felt-tip pen 
  • Stickers 
Health
  • Toothbrush (child-sized, wrapped) 
  • Toothpaste (small) 
  • Hand soap (wrapped) 
  • Pocket comb (small) 
  • Adhesive bandages 
  • Washcloth 
  • Tissues (pocket-sized) 
 Hand-crafted Items
Articles made by the participants may be included in the friendship boxes. Examples: 
  • attractive cards (preferably hand-made) expressing friendship 
  • finger puppets 
  • small beanbags 
  • bookmarks 
  • small postcards or photos of the place where you live. 
Personal or Recreational
  • Yo-yo 
  • Ball 
  • Jacks 
  • Small doll 
  • Marbles/beads 
  • Balloons 
  • Harmonica 
  • Whistle 
  • Kazoo 
  • Jump rope 
  • Small toy car 
  • Hair clips/Ribbon
