Born on December 28, 1987, Goldie Girl was our first Chinese Crested to come in our house. She is also the reason why I've decided that Chinese Crested must be part God. Goldie is the absolute perfect dog. Just one look at this smile and one can see that Goldie is very Special! Goldie came to me through a friend who had acquired her from one of her friend while visiting the United States. Goldie was originally sold as a show dog but didn't quite make it and that's why she needed a home. The first time I saw her she was quite the scruffy little girl. She came running from around the corner and jumped on my lap like I was a long time lost friend. Only having Kodiak the Great Pyrenees at the time Goldie was an easy decision to bring home. I have to share a story that happened on the first day she came to my home. My friend didn't want Goldie to come to me without a visit to the groomer first. When I picked up Goldie she was very happy and enjoyed her ride home. When I got out of the car, my neighbor's little boy came across the street to come and see Goldie. He went on to ask me: "Is this your dog?" yes I responded. "Did it get shaved?" yes I responded thinking for such a young little man (no more than 4) he was quite observant for his age. Then it came:"Boy did he ever get smaller!!!" Then I caught on! He thought my Great Pyrenees Kodiak, who happens to be the same color with grayish ears like Goldie had been shaved down to that much! I still think about it now almost 12 years later and I still think it's pretty funny! Joke apart Goldie is truly such a wonderful little dog. I contacted Amy Fernandez who is her original mommy about a year ago to let her know that Goldie Girl was still alive and well and she sure was happy to know what ever happened to Goldie. She still has her sister living with her in New York. She is a daughter of the famous Kojak King of the Blues. Goldie makes friends every where she goes. People are quite amazed when they see her suckling on her blanky. I truly hope that my Goldie Girl will be blessed with many more years!
