This is a shot of our front lawn. It's not in great shape now, as we haven't had any work done on it since we bought the house, but the gardener is coming next week. In fact, this is just a tiny taste of the number of leaves lying on the lawn -- the section to the right of where I stood to take this picture is covered in leaves. Notice the big palm tree in the middle that needs a trim (actually, you can't really see it in the picture, but the bottom leaves are all dead). That white thing behind the slide is not garbage -- it's a bag of sand that the contractor who renovated our bathrooms never bothered to take with him. We're getting rid of it little by little. You can see our parking area a bit better in this picture. |
In the picture on the right, you can see how badly the lawn needs to be raked. I wanted to rake it, but Avi told me that the gardener would bring a "thingy" (I have no idea what to call it) that vacuums up all of the leaves, so there was no point in working too hard. The tree in this picture is the one I mentioned with the roots that can push up the foundation. It looks pretty harmless here! The jug leaning against the tree is one of several that we "inherited" from the former owners -- they're very pretty and I'd like to buy some more. I got a few closeups of these that I will post with my garden pictures. |
Our front door is actually on the side and this is the path that leads up to it. You can see the planters on the side of the house -- most of them are currently empty, but we plan to fill them. As you can see, we have a lot of greenery next to the house (between us and our neighbors). The front door is up the steps. The path itself goes right around to the back of the house, where there is another entrance (to the "basement" -- it's not really a basement, because it's at ground level). |
