Bari, I was just dropping by for another visit during our CL guestbook signing party (which I think was a wonderful idea!). While here, I read your ADHD journal and ADHD and Ritalin pages. My heart goes out to you. My son, Shawn, has ADHD. He is 16 no , and also has traumatic brain injury syndrome on top of the ADHD from a motorcycle accident at age 12. It is so difficult to explain ADHD to other parents whose children DON'T have it.. and it's a nightmare to take the kids to any normal outing, shoppi g, school, a museum, restaurant, etc. They also seem to show no fear and have no concept of injuring themselves or others. Shawn was placed on a drug called Cylert instead of Ritalin, and it definitely helped him (other than he said it made him feel sle py -- which it will only do for TRUE cases of ADHD). Cylert was like a miracle for us! Shawn has been on Cylert, Imipramine, Zoloft, and Cyproheptadine (among others).. Did you know, though, that the largest percentage of ADHD kids are also "gifted" wi h extremely high IQ's? Keep hanging in there.. It does get somewhat better as they get older. Honest!

Thank you so much for your wonderful website. I was visiting it because of a discussion in our Sunday School class at Church. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (more widely known as Mormons). We were discussing symbols in the scriptures and our teacher displayed a candlestick with 7 candles in it. Someone made mention that this was the the candlestick used by the Jews in their celebration of Hanukkah. I said that I thought the menorah actually had 8 candles in it. Most isagreed. I decided I was going to put the internet to good use and look this up. Thanks to you and your terrific site, I learned that we were ALL wrong. The menorah has nine candles! I had a wonderful music teacher in elementary school--many moons ag , who taught us the song "Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah come light the menorah. Gather 'round the table we'll sing you a song..." I love that song and have had the pleasure of singing it to my own children. Thank you for sharing your family with us. Have a bl ssed holiday season.

About 5 years ago, after my mother went to be with the LORD, I was going threw her many papers and discovered that she was a German Jew. All these years no one knew. I dont even think my mom knew. I remember things my mom use to tell me about my grandmoth r being able to speek fluent yiddish , but my grandmother told my mom that she learned it by living in a total Jewish neighborhood. Ive since found out that you cant learn yiddish just by living in a jewish neighborhood, it had to have been spoken in the ome or you were taught it in school. I mentioned this to my cousin and she says she remembers her mom putting Hanukkah candles in the windows certain times of the year, but she never thought much about it till now. I have a letter that my mom or grandmoth r wrote, and when they mention God they leave out the o. It speaks of my great grandmother going out with a German Catholic soldier and they had to send her away, just to keep her away from him. There are so many other things that are coming together. I w uld really love to find out the truth. I am so excited about all this. My cousin and I have tried to find out more, weve put names into the internet,but cant seem to find out any more. As far as the intenet is concered, my grandmother doesnt exsist. We ca only get so far and then no further. Do you have any suggestions. I would appreciate any help. Thank you Patti
