Answer the Questions Correctly to Help Peikko Find His Way Home

INTRODUCTION:

The stories of Stupid Peikko are traditional Finnish folktales. There are many variations to the basic storylines and everytime I tell one of the stories, I end up adding or changing it a bit myself.

Peikko is a gnome who lives in Finland. He is very ugly. He has a short crooked body and bandy legs like all gnomes and he thinks himself to be quite clever. He likes to spend his time with humans and prides himself on being quite smarter than they are. But in fact, Peikko is really very stupid.

In this game, you must help Peikko find his way home. In order to do this you must answer all of the questions correctly. GOOD LUCK !

SCENE 1:

Peikko is running through the woods and sees Matti, a young man from the village whom he is always trying to outwit. Peikko tells Matti that he is in a hurry to get home and asks Matti to build him a bridge across the brook to help him on his way. Matti says that is too easy. Peikko tells Matti that this bridge must be very special. It must be made of neither wood nor stone nor iron.

QUESTION 1:

What did Matti use to make the bridge ?

  1. Matti gathered strong vines, bound them together and tied each end to trees on each side of the brook so Peikko could walk across to the other side

  2. Matti placed his feet on one side of the brook and his hands on the other side, then invited Peikko to walk across his back to the other side

  3. Matti gave up and admitted that Peikko was much smarter than he

  4. Matti gathered dirt and spread it out across the brook in a large dike so that Peikko could run across to the other side
