Deepening
our spirituality is a complicated, intricate process. We are formed in
Christ as we become aware of and respond to Christ's presence in our lives.
This is a life long process and one which can be fostered by a Christian
community. We endeavor to provide the safe, nurturing environment for this
encounter to take place.
There
are many dimensions to spiritual growth. We seek to offer age appropriate
opportunities for children to grow in their faith and feel a part of a
larger community. Our role as parents, clergy, Church School teachers,
and congregation members is to be faithful in our love and presence to
our children. In our presence we hope to help them to discover the grace
of God and live in response to it. Our covenant is to provide this presence
until Christ is formed in all.
At
St. James, we have a very active Sunday School program. Our Sunday School
is taught at three different levels: older elementary students, younger
elementary students, and toddlers. We currently employ a Director of the
Sunday School who ensures that the Sunday School is taught every week.
In addition, parents and congregation members volunteer to assist in teaching.
We also employ a babysitter for young babies. |
