CONFIRMATION OF FELENG
February 27- Monday morning in Bacolor
Feleng and I went home alone in the province. the
confirmation took place in the Bacolor Catholic Church.
Feleng's tegawan (sponsor) is Cumaring Seding, Miss
Mercedes Ordonez. We went to and from the church riding a
calesa. While waiting for the confirmation, Cumaring Seds
held Feleng and sometimes she used to cry. But she is being
comforted with "galang-galang." She even fell asleep. Her
tegawan gave her a "peseta" as a gift. I also acted as a
sponsor for Edong, the son of Cong Digno. In the afternoon
at 5:00, we wended our way to the city. It is then the
first time when Luring went with us and saw the city.
FELENG LEARNS TO STAND
February 28
She could stand alone guided for a short time.
OUR SECOND CHILD ADELING, (Adelina Angeles)
March 9- Thursday morning at 11:00
Adeling is born on this day. There was already a grinding
pain in the previous night which is a symptom of giving
birth. I went to the office this day but at 9:15, my
mistress phoned me and went home at 9:17 riding an autobus.
Two midwives attended her who were Aling Emang and Aling
Titang. The pains did not last long and the child is born.
Aling Titang is the one who took care of her. We paid her 7
pesos and 2 pesos to Aling Emang.
FELENG CAN STAND FOR ONE MINUTE
March 11
I try to stand her and she could stand for one minute. She
is then exactly one year and four months old.
ADELENG LEARNS TO SEE OBJECTS
March 29
For about 20 days, Adeling began to see objects.
FELENG'S FIRST STEP
April 11
At about this time, Feleng learns to walk a short distance.
we let her stand and tells her to walk from mother to
father. We always train her in doing this to encourage
walking.
ADELING'S FIRST RESPONSIVE SMILE
May 18 She began to smile at you when you try to
talk with her.
BAPTISM OF ADELING
May 21- Sunday morning
Adeling is baptized this day at the Sampaloc Catholic
Church. Her godmother is Cumaring Ester, (Ester Angeles). A
baptismal dress was given to her for the occasion. We have
a small preparation and Cumaring Geleng shared with our
joys. Brods, mother-in-law are present too. The regalos
that came are:
- 1 dozen mangos from Aling Minang
- 2 bottles of Dulce Wine from Aunt Pinang
- 1 hen from Indang Beria
- 1 hen from Cumaring Luisa
- 1 hen from mother-in-law
- 1 can of ice cream from Aunt Maria
The estimate expenses is 8 pesos only.
ADELING'S FLATTING ON FLOOR
June 6
At this time she began to flat on floor.
ADELING'S SITTING
August 9
At the close of the fifth month, Adeling could balance
herself if we sit her on the floor. She will also laugh
aloud if we should try to tease her.
ADELING LEARNS TO SIT ALONE
September 14
She could sit down without helping her. She then begins to
utter new words such as "tata" and knew how to eat rice and
drink coffee if we offer her these food.
ADELING CRAWLS FORWARD
October 1She can now say "tata" very distinctly and
starts to crawl backward and forward. The next day which is
Monday, she makes her first step upon holding her.
ADELING BECOMES VERY NAUGHTY
October 9
At the seventh month, she begins to crawl faster and
farther. ShE TrIes to trouble us while eating. And she will
not stop annoying us unless we give her rice or something
to eat. She could get on the "dulang" and grabs everything
with her reach. From this period, she always wakes up at
4:00 a.m. and will not sleep until the following morning.
We could no longer sleep soundly for she begins to annoy
us.
ADELING'S TEETHING
October 21
She begins to teeth on the lower jaw and she has a slight
fever.
ADELING SITS WELL
November 4
Adeling can now sit down without helping her entirely. She
sits with us beside the "dulang" without tumbling down
anymore. The more funny thing that she makes is that she
will sit over the "dulang" and eats a piece of bread. She
also stands leaning with the table.
ADELING OBEYS ORDERS
December 15
At the end of the 9th month, she knows how to obey
instructions. If we tell her to clasp her hands, nod her
head, kiss our hands and say "tatata", she will gladly do
it. She only hates to be dressed.
