In 1880, he was a farm worker living in the same house with his father in Tuscaloosa Co., AL. The 1880 census shows him as 25 years old. The 1880 census was taken in June and Loudie, who was born in August does not appear in that census. The 1900 census shows Jesse's birth as Oct 1850 and that he was renting a farm in beat 5, district 23, Chickasaw Co., MS.
Jesse's son Perry and daughter Lila are buried in the Woodland Cemetery on the north side of Highway 419 about 1 mile east of Woodland, MS and 1-1/2 miles west of the Natchez Trace. There is room for two more graves and Jesse and his wife, Donnie may be there in unmarked graves.
Jesse's daughter Loudie married in 1896. Her marriage record in Houston, MS includes a penciled note from her father giving permission for the marriage. It is signed by J.B. Blanchett. Estate papers name him as E.J. Blansett. These are clearly the same person as the estate papers also name the children of Loudie Blansett Mauldin, deceased, as grandchildren of E.J. Blansett. The 1880 and 1900 census say that Jesse Blansett could not read or write, so it is not known who actually wrote the note that was signed by J.B. Blanchett.
Jesse married first to Mary E. Hegdon (IGI). She was born about 1855 in AL and died before 1889. (Two marriages confirmed by estate records and the 1900 census.)
