"Q" was my #1 cat, in all ways- our permanent #1 pet, and first-born of my first Avicats litter, born in 1989 out of CH Ailurophile Carmesina of Avicats and GRC, QGC MtKittery Warren Peace
of Coons'kin. Since then he has been with me through everything; and he quickly endeared himself to my husband as well. Q was a big-boned, shaggy boy who adored being held and "bounced" in my arms! He would sit and stare and purr at us, to tell us to pick him up- now! Q did do well at shows and received several finals in TICA, but when it became obvious that he didn't enjoy showing he was retired. Despite his dislike of cat shows, Q purred like mad everywhere else we went, including at his annual vet check-ups. He greeted all of our visitors and welcomed all of our kittens when they were old enough to meet the rest of the feline household. Q was everything I could ask for in a pet, and also all I strive for in a Maine Coon. With his wild brown mackerel tabby coloring together with his strong, chiseled cheekbones and muzzle and deep chin Q was just how I imagine a Maine Coon to be. Q was neutered and never bred - he was starting to spray and we couldn't bear to have him confined. But his littermate sister, CH Avicats Ruby Tuesday, was bred and is in the ancestry of most of our cats. We miss Q and no cat will ever replace him for us.
