A memorial in the Bible is something that causes God and the people of God to remember. A memorial will give God cause to do something. It will always cause God to manifest himself. An example of this is in Numbers 10: 9: When you go into battle in your land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on your trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies. The sound of the trumpet is a memorial to God.

Also, Acts 10 tells us of a man named Cornelius who gave generously and prayed regularly but needed to hear about God's plan of salvation. His prayers and offerings, which were memorials to God, gave God cause to send an angel to him. The angel told him to send for a man named Simon (Peter-one of the twelve disciples.) Peter taught him about Christ and the forgiveness of sins. This lets us know we can raise a memorial to God for a specific purpose with our prayers and offerings.
