    He's out of his mind.  He's not in his right mind.  Used when someone does or says something strange and out of character.

    This is an inversion of "Raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it" When a child is young he listens to his parents but when he is old he does as he pleases.

    This sentence acknowledges freindships that although circumstances make brief are very deep.  ie. It is a touching phrase that a foriegner may use to his Korean friends as he prepares to leave for home.

    The matchmaker gets three glasses of wine for a good match and three slaps in the face for a bad one.

    Darned if you do and darned if you don't.  The proverb also reminds us to be careful meddling in others affairs.  The consquenses of failure are generally greater than any potential rewards.

    This proverb has a dual meaning. In one sense it means that no one is totally independent.  Secondly it implies that any honor one recieves must be given, not claimed.  Korean culture teaches humility above self promotion.  This is quite a contrast with American pracitces.
