Background Mewsic: I'll Be There

Tuxie

In da words of Tuxie's Hoomin Fran (Taken from Tuxies Original Memorial Page):

Tuxie came to me when she was close to a year old. Still kitten-like in many ways I found myself retrieving her from the top of the draperies, from the dresser drawers, linen closets, kitchen cabinets and even from my storage unit on the patio that I had closed and locked without knowing she was there. She was extremely high strung and would not take to people very well...although she would surprise us at times.

We spent 16 years together, my Tuxie and I. She welcomed me home every night peering out the window as soon as she heard my car pull into the driveway. Only those of us who have shared our lives with a feline friend can understand that cats are very intelligent. They know our voice, our walk, the sound of our cars and our daily routine. Tuxie learned to trust me and curled up in my lap to snooze. She would sleep in my bed at night curled up on my legs, moving around as I moved during the night, or right next to me where I could hear the sweet purring of her contentment. She was my little girl and I loved her dearly.

We battled the fleas, the ringworm and other problems together. She lost all of her hair and no one wanted to look at her or to touch her until her hair grew back. But I did... and caught a case of ringworm myself! I spent days on end without sleep, crying on the phone to my wonderful vet every time a problem would occur. I soon realized that I was acting and feeling just like a mother!

When I discovered the lumps under her arms I immediately took her to the vet and had them removed, but they came back every year. After 5 years of surgery, and with her increasing age, she could no longer tolerate the anesthesia and began to have seizures during surgery. I had no choice but to discontinue further surgery. Tuxie exceeded my expectations and lived well for another three years. She was my companion and friend who accepted me for who I am and gave me unconditional love. I miss you Tuck.
