Alfred Corn



Rev Alfred Corn was born Jan 19, 1817 in Buncombe County, NC, son of Rev Adam and Hannah Heatherly Corn. He died July 16, 1905, in Young Harris, Georgia. Alfred married Nancy T Cook, Jan 16, 1842. Nancy was born May 15, 1819 and was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Cook. Alfred married a second time to Amanda Matthewson, in 1855. Alfred and Nancy are buried at Young Harris.

Children of Alfred and Nancy:

1. Arminta Jane Corn born Aug 19, 1843, died Feb 27, 1932. Married Mangum Bryson Aug 19, 1860.

Arminta and Mangum's children were:
Eugene, John Mangum, Junious, Lola Fair, Kittie (who married Bill Dean), and Ellen.

2. John Adam Corn born Jan 21, 1845, died May 14, 1864 in the Civil War. John A married Ivy Ann Loudermilk, Oct 13, 1862.

John A and Ivy had one son, John Alfred Corn, born Nov 26, 1935. John Alfred Corn was reared by his grandfather, Rev A Corn. John A became a large landholder and stockraiser. He was in the state legislature. John A married Gracie Ownby and had a large family.
