Burch
Columbus Calhoun Burch was born Nov 22, 1856. He lived on Bell Creek, Hiawassee, Georgia.He was the son of and Avy L Burch; grandparents were Jarrett Burch, Sr and Milly Pinson Burch. Columbus was called "Uncle Coon". Columbus married Georgia Elizabeth Sims Aug 27, 1886. She was the daughter of Hampton Sims and Mary Gettis. "Uncle Coon" was a farmer by trade. He farmed his land as long as he was able. He gave each of the children some acreage. A few years after his death, the TVA came along and purchased the land for Lake Chatuge. Georgia, Mattie, and Herman moved to the Henry Burch homeplace, brother of Columbus. The children were:
1. Mattie was unmarried.
Columbus died May 21, 1936, Georgia died July 7, 1959. They are buried along with other family members in the Lower Bell Creek Cemetery. Get your own
