More pictures to come shortly (I just have to remember where I put them!).

During my lifetime, my mother gave me many, many gifts. They weren't the kind of gifts that came in boxes with pretty bows, they were gifts from her heart; the kind that have made a huge difference in my life and the way I live it. Virtually everything I learned, I learned by her example

She taught me to believe in myself, to respect myself as well as those around me, to be tolerant of other people's beliefs, to be patient and kind, and to love unconditionally, just as she loved me. She taught me to overlook the flaws in those I love and, instead, dwell on their attributes. After all, no one is perfect.

She taught me that being able to laugh at myself can be a blessing. I have found that she was absolutely right about that. In fact, I'm usually the one who starts the laughter.

She taught me that a sense of humor can see you through all sorts of tight spots.

Of course she taught me how to cook, sew, knit, crochet and all those other "crafty" things.

But I think the greatest gift she ever gave me was the deep and abiding faith I have in God. She always said, "God will never give you more than He knows you can handle". I know first hand that she was right about that. I've been tested once or twice with a cancer scare and then an actual case of cancer and never once did I doubt that I would be anything but fine. I also knew that I had not only God watching out for me, but also my mom, my very own guardian angel. The peace I get from that knowledge is beyond description.

She's physically gone from me now but I know she will be with me every minute of every day for the rest of my life. I can feel her constant presence and sometimes I can almost hear her whispering in my ear. I thank God that she was my mother. Most of my friends weren't nearly so lucky. In fact, many said they wished their mothers were like mine.

Thank you Mom for all you did for me and thank God for giving you to me. I hope that I am worthy to follow your example.
