:
: This is what Paul Coulombe's book "The Coulombe's of North America" gave as
: the lineage. Above was Moise's. Now here is what he has to say about
: Albert:
:
: "Albert Coulombe married the first time to Clarisse Poisson on 29 Apr 1895
: in Tres-Sts. Anges-de-Ham-Nord, Wolfe County, PQ. She died, and he
: remarried to Delia M Boucher, daughter of Michel Boucher and Addie
: Frechette on 16 Jan 1900 in Ste Hyacinthe, PQ. Their children:
:
: Ralph b. 1905 Chisholm, MA
: Antonio b. 1 Jun 1902 Sacre-Coeur, New Bedford, MA
: Leon-Oxie b. 1913 Canada
: Philippe b. 1902 New Bedford, MA d. of pneumonia on 24 Jan 1904
: Laureat b. 1914 d. 3 Apr 1915 at 6 months old
:
: Albert Coulombe married for the third time to Philomene Cote on 6 Oct 1913
: in Ham-Nord, PQ. I gather that the Ralph, son of Delia, is your
: father-in-law, Raoul."
:
: Now, Ralph is my husband's father, and Albert is his Grandfather. I
: mentioned in the first post the various names I found in verifying data on
: Ralph - thank Heaven his family sent me copies of his Baptismal, marriage
: and death certificates or I probably would have lost my sanity!
:
: I have learned from pestering the family (mainly the oldest child, who is
: his firstborn and step-sister to the rest as her mother died when she was
: only a few months old) that there were five children.
:
: There was a daughter Rose, who was born first or second.
: There were four brothers: Robert
: Ralph
: Anthony
: Leon
:
: That might be the correct Antonio listed above; I have yet to corroborate
: it. (All the siblings are dead). My husband, who was born Raoul Joseph
: COULOMBE in Brooklyn, NYC on November 4, 1942, was only 8 years of age when
: his father died in 1952. His mother is still alive and is 91; but she had
: a stroke this past year and is unable to help. The children of the family
: know little to nothing regarding their Aunts and Uncles so I do not know
: what children they had nor how to find them. It would seem that after
: Ralph's death the mother did not keep in touch with the rest of the family;
: and the kids don't remember much about them.
:
: You will note that both Rose and Robert are missing from the above list. I
: have just learned that Albert and Delia were allegedly married in New
: Bedford (more later) so it may be because they were born there. Ralph (my
: husband's father) was born April 23, 1905 in Chisholm (Franklin County),
: Maine. I do know that Leon was born in Quebec as he was born when they
: made a trip up there for a visit. He is the only one of the five born
: outside the United States. However, at this point I am not sure where I
: will find the other siblings' births. I do not know how long Albert lived
: in Maine, and Massachusetts; I do know that both he and Delia died in
: Providence, R.I. (Pawtucket) and that is where Rose settled and lived.
: Rose married a Henry Vaillancourt and they had 8 kids. I have no firm
: information on these, either. Rose is alleged to have died somewhere in
: the 1948-1954 period as Eileen remembers 4 deaths in that period; Delia
: 1948, Rose; Ralph 1950 and Helen, 1954 (my husband's sister). Albert, she
: believes, died somewhere around the time her own mother died; which was
: 1927 or shortly thereafter. However, the ages she gave at their deaths do
: not match up with the years she remembers them as dying. She says that
: Delia was 63 years of age at death and that she died in 1948. She says
: that Albert was 58 years old when he died. These ages do not match the
: death years to the best of my knowledge.
:
: Now we come to the marriage of Albert and Delia. I now have two marriage
: dates in two different locations:
:
: "Married to Delia M Boucher, daughter of Michel Boucher and Addie Frechette
: on 16 Jan 1900 in Ste Hyacinthe, PQ."
:
: Now I have been given this:
:
: : Albert Coulombe (25) (moses & Celina Marcotte) Delia Boucher (23) (Michel & Addie Frechette)
: : married 26 feb 1900 New Bedford Ma NOT St. Hyacinthe The priest was William Cullen from St. Hyacinthe.
:
: Ready to scream yet?
:
: Leon was the only sibling to live to a good, ripe old age. He died a year
: or two ago in Florida; he was married to a woman named Gladys.
:
: Robert returned to Rumford, Maine (Chisholm is nearby) and raised his
: family there. I don't believe either he or Anthony outlived their brother
: by too many years. (They had all had rheumatic fever as children and it
: had damaged their hearts; but this was unknown until Ralph, my husband's
: father, died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 45.)
:
: I think you can understand how frustrating this search has been with the
: lack of information and the abundance of misinformation I have been given.
:
: Two children from the list of Albert's children are suspect; Phillipe and
: Laureat. Laureat may have been but no one remembers any children who died.
: Phillipe cannot have been unless he was twin to Antonio; and no one
: remembers any talk of twins either. They may belong to another line of
: Coulombes.
:
: Well, now you know about as much as I do; aren't you glad you asked?
: Just gathering what information I have been able to glean has been
: like pulling teeth with the family; and it is made more difficult by the
: fact that they are all up in New York while I am here in Arizona.
:
: Please believe me when I say that I am thrilled with the help you have
: extended; it is so generous of you to have taken the time to look up this
: information for me and help me untangle this spaghetti of a family tree!
:
: I'm sorry I didn't get to write sooner but between feeling somewhat lousy
: and all the information I needed to gather to write this; I needed to wait
: until I could sit down and write all this out, which I have now done.
:
: If you are willing or able to find out anything more; believe me, I would
: greatly appreciate it! I do not expect you to do more; you have already
: done so much and I am really delighted with your help. But should you wish
: to do anything further I would certainly be most appreciative. I think you
: can see the problems I have been struggling with.
:
: Of course, I still have to see if I can learn just WHO was ALBERT anyways!
: I don't even want to THINK about what name variations I might find trying
: to trace and pin down the brothers. Joseph Napoleon Raoul COULOMBE (his
: Dad) aka Ralph aka N. Raoul aka Napoleon leaves me with trepidation...
:
: But thank you so much; it has been wonderful to find someone as willing and
: as helpful as you have been. My personal family tree (Norwegian) has been
: a walk in the park compared to this!
