: Hi Yvon!
:
: Sorry for the delay in writing but I have been having some sinus headaches
: from hell with my allergies... it's that time of year again.
:
: : I have found six children to Moise Coulombe and Celina Marcotte...and two
: : died at an early age...However none had the names you have listed:
: :
: : Albert...Adolphe...Nazaire...and Delvina
: :
: : Here are the children I found with their birth places and dates and also
: : death dates in two instances.
: :
: : Vitaline Celina born 11-06-1867 in St-Paul-de-Chester,
: : Moise Nicolas, b. 28-08-1869 in Saints-Anges de Ham Nord, Qc
: : Marie-Emilie, b. 30-11-1871 in Saints-Anges de Ham Nord, Qc
: : Norbert Moise, b. 11-01-1874 in Saints-Anges de Ham Nord, Qc
: : Georges Allison, b.7-08-1875 in Saints-Anges de Ham Nord, Qc (Died young)
: : Napoleon, b. 6-03-1878 Saints-Anges de Ham Nord, Qc
:
: Another person surprised me by looking them up in the Census. This is what
: she found:
:
: : 1881 census ham nord
: : Moise Coulombe 37 cultivateur
: : Celina 35
: : Jean-Baptiste 73( Moise' father)
: : Vitaline 14
: : Emelie 10
: : Norbert 8
: : Nazaire 3
: : Adolphe 3/12
:
: It would seem here that Adolphe was born in 1881. But the names keep being
: changed! Norbert is closest in age to Albert; I suspect that he may have
: adopted that name in the United States after being called Albert enough
: times instead of Norbert. However, I will have to see if I can validate
: this. Nazaire is probably Napoleon's middle name.
:
: My husband's father's name all but drove me around the bend! He was
: baptized Joseph Napoleon Raoul Coulombe. He married as Ralph Coulombe.
: His oldest daughter insists his legal name was Napoleon Raoul and that he
: used to sign things N. Raoul because he hated the name Napoleon. He was
: buried as Napoleon Coulombe. Starting to get the idea? Norbert may have
: been baptized Albert-Norbert or any combination of the above. I want to
: send for Albert's death certificate but now I am faced with conflicting
: names and a conflict of what year he died vs. how old he claimed to be.
: Nothing comes easy with this family branch...
:
: : In my research I have found a Nazaire born on 2-07-1868 in
: : St-Paul-de-Chester.... but he was the son of Nazaire Coulombe and Philomène
: : Nadeau .... This couple also had a few more children but I did not list them.
:
: This is a different branch entirely. This is one of the problems in
: researching this surname; there are so many of them and they all used the
: same combinations of names!
:
: :
: : I also found out that Moise Coulombe was married three times:
: :
: : 1) Celina Marcotte, 9-04-1866 St-Paul-de-Chester, Qc
: : 2) Clarisse Poisson 29-04-1895 (Forgot to write parish)
: : 3- Philomene Cote, 6-10-1913 Ham Nord, Qc
:
: Aha! Paul Coulombe's book had Clarisse and Philomene married to Albert!
: Thanks! I knew Philomene couldn't have married Moise as he died before his
: wife, Delia. But I knew nothing about whether the marriage to Clarisse was
: valid. It also threw me off in guestimating his age, as he married Delia
: Boucher in 1900. Now thanks to you I have something more solid to go on -
: he had to be either Norbert (most likely) or Napoleon. He claimed to be 25
: when he married Delia in 1900, so Norbert seems the closest match.
: :
: : Moise was the son of Jean-Baptiste m. to Marie Prince
: : Celina was the daughter of Michel m. to Appoline Guertin
:
: This matches the information I was given.
:
: More information in next post!
