Titus 2 Birthing: Christian Labor Support as Ministry

A Christian Doula Certification Program

Titus 2 Birthing: Christian Labor Support Ministry is a national training and certification program for doulas who desire to provide a Titus 2 model ministry through their birth services. Workshops are scheduled across the US where sponsors are available.

The following is a list of requirements for certification:

1. Annual Membership in Titus 2 Birthing (annual dues of $24 subject to change).

2. $10 certifying packet fee (non-refundable)

3. High school diploma or equivalent.

4. Complete required reading and book reports.

5. Complete any 2 of the following:
a. Training as a childbirth educator or midwife
b. Attend a childbirth education series (not as an expectant parent) or equivalent and submit a review.
c. Attend a LaLeche series of 4 meetings and submit a review.
d. Attend a VBAC support group or participate in ICAN list and submit a review.

6. Attend the Titus 2 Birthing labor support training workshop (18 hours).

7. Experience providing labor support for a minimum of 4 births. Labor support must include a minimum of 3 hours per birth.

8. Copies of good evaluations from 4 clients and 3 birth professionals (nurses, doctors or midwives).

9. Copies of records from 4 certifying births including: summary form, labor records and birth essay describing labor, techniques used and what you learned.

10. Written essay on value and purpose of labor support in general and Christian labor support in specific (500-1,000 words)

11. CPR certification (infant, child and adult)

12. Signed copied of Titus 2 Statement of Faith, Birth Philosophy, Labor Support Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and Mission Statement.

There is a shorter certifcation process for those who are already certified in labor support and want to add a Christian certification to their credentials. This process includes a 1-day Titus 2 Birthing workshop, and steps 1-4, and 8-12 above. Verification of certification from the other organization is required.
