Chapter IIIHunting Ohmar the Monster BallPage 18 |
Malcomb was the human who used to feed me before he died. I heard him telling is wife, Delma, about how he and Lee along with the grandchildren had heard Mrs. Robbin screaming like she was very frightened. They looked up and there she was, dangling and fluttering and screaming from a big tangled wad of *nylon fishing line. It was tangled on a twig at her nest and her leg was ensnarled in it, too. Lee got the long handled tree trimmer saw and was able to cut the twig off. Mrs. Robin fell to the ground. Lee picked her up, untangled the line from her leg and released her. He was afraid Mrs. Robbin would abandon her nest, but she didn't. And, she used it the next year before it was blown off by storms. I always liked the Robbins. They never fussed at me. They just flew over to another place in the yard. There are always 5 or 6 Robbins in the area. I like to watch all of them, but they fly away from me or try to chase me away from their nests. |
I just don't want that Mockingbird to see me. I don't think she saw me. I'm not scared; just cautious. I don't like my head pecked! Think I'll go over to the patio. I seem to be getting a scent from that area, and I can get up on the tables and get a better view of the area.

Footnote: If one lives near a lake it will help protect the wild life if any trash like tangled line, plastic can holders and metal opener rings from aluminum cans are picked up and put in containers that will not make them a danger to the animals. I, Lee, cut into very small lengths any stray fishing line I find on the beach. Don't want what happened to the Robbin happen again.
