Youth Action Group Report 1997
"Welcome to D.Y.E."
That's how we started on our first night. Introducing a "Hint of Colour" into the lives of 21 young people from 3 churches in the Diocese. In the course of the evening a Youth Forum was elected. We hope this will lead to the young people organising events for young people.
Fifteen of us travelled to Glasgow to experience the Scottish Christian Gathering and then back to St. Ninian's Church House for a sleep-over,  where relationships were built up over a McDonalds for supper, closely followed by pancakes for breakfast.
Great excitement of an early Christmas was present when we "Unwrapped the Gift" that God had given us in His Son at Christmas time.
LOVE - JOY - PEACE - LIGHT were in evidence throughout the evening for us all. The young people took away with them signs of their creativity in gifts of love biscuits, peace cards, decorated candles and the joy of sharing these with others along with a banner for their church.
Further events have been planned for 1998 to include an Easter Workshop, hopefully a retreat at Glenesk and the highlight, another 4-day faith-sharing event. United and Ignited at Douglaswood Scout Centre.
All of this needs enthusiasm and of course money. We are grateful (in advance!) to the Diocese for their grant of £500 and to the Province for £1000 to help us do God's work among His young people.
We are excited by the number of young people who have already joined us and we hope and pray that many more will catch the fire kindled by their leaders and join us in 1998.
