51. John LAY ⁽¹²⁾ was born on 10 Jan 1697 in Lyme Twp, CT.. ⁽⁸⁴⁾ He was elected as Justice of the Peace.  Served on a war committee appointed by the Assembly 1775. in 1775 in Lyme,Ct.. He died on 14 Apr 1788 in Old Lyme, New London, Ct..⁽⁸⁵⁾    He was buried in Apr 1788 in Old Meeting House Cemetery, Old Lyme, Ct..  

He was married to Mary LEWIS (daughter of John LEWIS and Johannah TILESON) on 14 May 1733 in Lyme Twp, CT..⁽⁸⁶⁾ Mary LEWIS⁽⁸⁷⁾ was born in 1699. She died on 14 Sep 1803 in Lyme Twp, CT..
