Meridyth's Page

Hi!

My name is Meridyth.

I'm in the 7th grade, and turned 13 on October 29.

While we're on the school subject, my favorite subject in school is science . I like it because  you get to make things, for instance cheese, we get to do experiments, such as seeing if fishes' gills moved faster in room tempatured water or in water that we put an ice cube in to make it colder. For some experiments, we get to eat what we made, such as cheese, but most of us didn't! In one of our experiments we did, we got  to bring home a fish. I like science because there are some interesting things that you learn, and that you probably  will remember for a long time!

I have been in Girl Scouts since kindergarten. My favorite part of Girl Scouting is camping because we go to really neat places and have a great time.

My hobbies include gymnastics, babysitting and modeling.

My most recent modeling job was for a nationwide Dental Center. If you happen to see my picture there, e-mail me and let me know. By the way, I don't really have braces...they just put them on for the shoot. It was a really great experience.

I also have 8 pets. They are 2 cats, 1 Japanese fire-bellied newt, 1 hermit crab and Dwarf Winter White Russian hamster that I accidentally bought pregnant. Her name is Chloe. One day I woke up and heard squeaks from inside the  cage. Once Chloe left the nest, I saw 3 babies! They were the size of the tip of my pinkie! Now they are 2 weeks  old and the size of my whole pinkie! They are so cute! They are gray with a black stripe going down their backs. They fit on a teaspoon!

Some of my pets do some really weird stuff. Take my cats for instance. When I pant like a dog, they will chase each other around the house!

My newt climbs up the side of the cage wall. He is a fire bellied newt. His name is Elvis. The fire belly newts get their name from their belly. They are bright red with black spots. The rest of their body is black.

My hamster Chloe does many interesting things, too.  Sometimes at night, she will run on her wheel that taps on the side of the cage (tap, tap tap rattle, rattle!) and keep us all awake! So what I decided to do was to put one of her chew blocks behind it, and she stops running. With Chloe, you will always know when she wants to be picked up. What she'll do is go on her box hut and  stand up tall on her hind legs and if you put your hand by her, she'll just walk right on! Sometimes when she is in her hamster ball, my cats will go wild!!:-)

Please email me, just be sure to put Meridyth in the subject line so my leader knows who the letter is for.
