MISCHIEF

Mischief is a true example of how persistence pays off. We had lived in our mobile home about four months, when one Saturday morning in April of 1990 we were awakened by an animal growling in our bedroom. We thought it was Trouble growling at something. We both looked over the edge of the bed and much to our surprise, there stood this little gray and white kitten growling at Trouble. Of course I wanted to keep her. Bob said that one cat was enough and that she probably had an owner so he put her outside. We figured out that she had pushed her way up through the heat vent. We tightened that heat vent down and went on with life. A couple of hours later we heard the growling again. There was the little kitten again. She had pushed her way up through another heat vent. Bob put her outside again. We tightened that heat vent down. Several hours later, we heard the growling again.
This time she was stuck and couldn't push the heat vent up. So we got her unstuck and put her outside again. This went on for a couple more days. She just kept finding more ways to get into the house. We'd put her outside in the morning and by the time we got home from work in the evening, she would be back in the house. I checked with some of my neighbors and they all agreed that she was homeless. SHE knew where she wanted to live and SHE wasn't going to give up so we gave up and let her move in. We named her Mischief because we knew that as persistant as she was, she'd be into alot of it and she usually is.
