Schreef brief (4 nov. 1956) aan Klaas Tuit. Vertelde dat ie met een Hollandse vrouw uit Hindeloopen getrouwd (44 jaar) was, en dat ze 8 kinderen hadden. 7 kinderen waren inmiddels getrouwd; de achtste (de "Babie") is bij de Amerikaanse luchtmacht.
Schrijft dat zijn broer Klaas dicht bij hem woont en zijn twee zusters die Hilligje en Fijgje heten.
Informeerde of Jan Oosterhof nog leefde en nog op de boerderij woonde.
Zegt dat ie het ouderlijk huis aan de Busselterweg nog goed kende en vroeg wie nu machinist was bij de waterfabriek.
Volgens brief aan Wendell Tuit van Jonh Tuit Jr.:
" Came to the USA, oct. 17,1905 at Hoboken, NJ. Naturalised dec. 28, 1911 at Common Plea Court, Paterson, NJ by his fathers papers # 229806"

"John Tuit Sr. , 88, of the borough, died Monday at the Holland Christian Home.
Born in Holland, Tuit came to the United States in 1905. He has lived in Prospect Park for 67 years before moving to the Holland Home six years ago.
He was a self-employed painting contractor before retiring 15 years ago.
He was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Midland Park where he served as elder, deacon and custodian. His wife the former Gertrude Glas, died in 1977.He leaves his five sons, Wendell of Little Falls, John Jr. of Oakland, Cornelius of Clifton, Nicholas of Prospect Park and August of Palatine, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Palatucci of Parsippany, Mrs. Alice Bartholf of Phoenix City,
Ala., Mrs. Hilda Jonkman of Prospect Park, and Mrs. Agnes Covello of Hawthorne; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff."

... "The Tuit's moved into the North Sixth Street house right after they were married. Here they raised a large family and John Tuit for years conducted a painting business under the slogan "Let Tuit do it".The house on the corner of Fairview Avenue and North Sixth Street is an historic house in the borough of Prospect Park. Before the Tuit's lived there, the house was the home of Frank Breen. And it was there, in this house, one morning in late 1900 that three men met to discuss the creation of the borough of Prospect Park out of Manchester Township. They were Frank Breen, Cornelius van Noort, Andrew Hopper, Kryne Hook and Adrian Struyk, who at that time conducted a grocery store with his brothers Arie and Peter at the corner of North BRidge and Watson Streets. It was also here in this house that the boundaries for the borough were first laid and spelled out by the act of the legislature which created the
borough on March 13, 1901."....
"For years the Tuit home also served as the First District polling place ans it was only after the sold the house that the polling place was changed to the American Legion Hall on North Eight Street."
