Jacob and Mary Eversole's home built around 1800
Located in Perry County a mile up the KY river south of Chavies, toward Krypton. (This photo was taken from the back of the cabin. The front porch, the chimney on the left end, and several logs are missing.) The river runs between the cabin and the base of the mountain that can be seen in the distance.


This is a short list of the descendants of Joseph Ebersohl. Joseph was born around 1710, and came to America in 1739, along two of his siblings, Peter and Johannes (John) Ebersohl.

Joseph Ebersohl's sons were: Jacob, born circa 1738, Christian, born 1741, and Peter, born around 1747.

Jacob Eversole, a grandson of Joseph Ebersohl, was born about 1760 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and died 1833 in Kentucky. Jacob was married in Lancaster Co., Pa. about 1784 to Maria "Mary" Kessler.
Mary was born 1764 in Pennsylvania and died in 1834 in Kentucky.

Notes for Jacob and Mary Eversole:

Jacob left Pennsylvania about 1796 and purchased land in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. On April 7, 1804 he sold his land in NC (now Ashe Co.) and joined a company of pioneers who followed Daniel Boone to the Blue Grass regions of Kentucky. However, he traveled on to the mountain section of Eastern Kentucky where the land was not heavily populated and both fish and game were plentiful and purchased land about a mile up the Kentucky River, South of Chavies (toward Krypton) in what is now Perry County, Kentucky.

    Abraham Eversole was born 1790 in Ash Co., NC (or VA), and died about 1862 in Owsley Co., Buffalo, Kentucky. He married March 12, 1811 in Clay Co., Ky to Sarah Williams.
    Sarah Was born 1794 in Guilford Co., NC and died about 1863 in Owsley Co., Ky.

    James and Nancy Abner (1st wife) Eversole's children were:

    1. Margaret Eversole, b. March 25, 1860
    2. Abner Eversole, b. April 21, 1864
    3. William (Turtleneck) Eversole, b. November 10, 1866, married 1st. Nancy Jane Wilder, married 2nd. Emma Couch.
    4. Samuel Eversole, b. 1874

    James Eversole and Elizabeth Abner's illegitimate children were:

    1. John Eversole, b. August 1863, d. September 1902, married Nancy Elizabeth Deaton.
    2. Robert Lee (Dick) Eversole, b. Abt. 1865, married China Taylor.

    James and Elizabeth Robinson (2nd wife) Eversole's children were:

    1. Clark Eversole, b. July 12, 1884, married Lara Davidson
    2. Sophia Eversole, b. April 20, 1886, married John V. Dickerson
    3. Elijah W. Eversole, b. December 12, 1887, married Martha V. Baker
    4. Walter Eversole, b. January 26, 1890, married Nancy Hick
    5. Lula Mae Eversole, married James Gordon Bently



    Nathan and Sarah Jane Wood Eversole
    1889-1975       1885-1939

    Nathan is the son of John Eversole, 1863-1902 and
    Nancy Elizabeth Deaton Eversole, 1868-1950.

    Sarah Jane is the daughter of Jefferson Davis Wood, 1862-1940, and
    Elizabeth R. Combs Wood, 1868-1924.
