Stop those germs! With flu season upon us, cut down on the spread of flu germs, also, cut down on other bacteria, including salmonella, plus a thousand others, by adding a small amount of bleach to your pan of dishwater. (about a tablespoon for each quart of water). If using a dishwasher, use the pan of bleach water for clean-ups; kitchen counters, refrigerator, etc., then dry with paper towels. This will also help remove stains from counter tops and plastic items.
Sometimes accidents will happen! To remove candle wax, put a couple of paper towels over the area and press with a warm iron; as the wax melts the paper towels will absorb it. Repeat till all the wax is lifted off.
A safe way to remove old candle wax from candleholders is to fill a pan, or sink, with hot tap water and let the holders soak until the wax is soft. It should slide right out.
For easy to clean candle holders, put a little water in the holder before using. When the candle burns down, just dump out the whole mess.
To remove the sticky adhesive left behind by price stickers, labels, etc., "De-Solve-it" by Orange-Sol Household Products does a good job, but if you don't have any on hand, lighter fluid will do the trick; just put a few drops on the area and rube off with a paper towel, repeat if necessary. Then clean with a damp cloth or paper towel.
Don't throw that used toothbrush away! They are great for scrubbing hard-to-get-at crannies; like around kitchen, laundry and bathroom fixtures.
Here is a quick way to clean your rings without removing them from your finger. Squeeze a small drop of toothpaste on a soft toothbrush, turn the part of the ring that needs cleaning around toward the palm, brush and rinse. Your rings will sparkle like new.
For easy clean-up and to prevent clogs in the bathtub and shower, place nylon netting over the drain. Remove when finished.
