This is my daddie, and one of my very best friends.He passed away in Jan.of cancer. He was born in Missouri in 1930. He was the 7th of 8 children.He played football in High School and played the sousaphone in the band. He worked in groceries stores, at the post office and was a travling salesman.He was always active in the church and comunity where ever we lived. He always tryed to make life better for his family and anyone else he knew. He was a kind loving and considerate man. He loved his family and his friends. He dedicated many years to researching his ancestors and was always proud of the lives that they lived
James Haley was born in 1824 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He was the son of Tavner and Joyce Tomlinson Haley. He married Mary Coleman Rowe in 1847 and they had ten children. He was instrumental in founding Ava, Missouri. He died in Ava in 1904.
This is my grandmother. Cecile Pickard Hailey she was born in Harlan,Iowa and died in Neosho,Missouri. I don't remember her when she wasn't in a wheel chair. She use to come see us and stay with us. She did crocheting and made cute little things with her hands. My brothers and I use to take her up town to get things at the dime store . She never seemed to be to afraid of any of us pushing her in her wheel chair.She took alot of medicene and if you had been good and were in her room with her when she went to take her medications she would give you horehound candy.She raised eight children mostly by herself. She died when I was 10 years old.
This is my Aunt Mabel and Uncle Clovis. Aunt Mabel was my dads oldest sister. In 1934 their father died. Grandma Hailey had to move her eight children from off of the farm and to town. She then had to take a job to support them. Mabel took care of the younger children. Since my dad was only 4 years old at the time she was like a second mother to him. She and Clovis were married in 1941. They had three children. Uncle Clovis was in the Army and they lived all over. They lived in Germany for awhile. When I was three years old they came back from Germany and came to visit. Uncle Clovis asked me to go to the store with him and to everyones surprise I went. I guess I knew even then just how special they were. they lived in Texas for a long time while Uncle Clovis was stationed at Fort Hood. After he retired they bought a house on a lake at Burnett, Texas. Uncle Clovis passed away in 1987 and we just lost Aunt Mabel in Dec of 1997. They are certainly missed by their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
