Ken Resink said of the Charger dog that he gave you everything he had when he was in the ring - it can be said of this magnificent Bouvier, whose memory is so vivid in the minds of those who knew him that he gave you everything be had in his ten short years  He became the top-winning, top producer of all Bouviers for many years and this record was only recently broken by the great Chester who shared the similar bloodlines of another top producer imported by Deewal Kennels, Ch. Vulcain du Clos des Cytises.

In the year 1994, we see that the number two top Bouvier des Flandres, Ch. Deewal Question me Not, and the number one Bouvier bitch, Ch. Deewal Quoquo, both share Charger on the dam's side of the pedigree and in 1993 the second most winning Bouvier was again a Charger grandson from the dam's side. Charger still holds the title as the only Bouvier des Flandres to win an FCI International Best in show, owner-breeder handled by Claire McLean - this in Mexico in 1985.

Charger produced 34 champions in his lifetime and won a total of 6 Bests in Show - he produced Group placing champions and his progeny carry on the Deewal line through his grandsons and great-granddaughters.  One might be amused to know that the Charger dog and a litter mate were sold to a trainer in Oregon who kept the litter mate, but returned Charger to Deewal declaring the dog was not trainable. Everyone knows that he grew up to become one of the true greats of the breed with a personality and loving spirit that he passed on to all his children. Deewal has kept faithful to the line produced by this wonderful Charger dog and he can be seen in most all their pedigrees of today. Ch. Deewal Challenger, Ch. Deewal Chaco of Manposa and Ch. Deewal Conquest were litter mates to Charger. Ch. Deewal Conquest won the 1983 California Specialty under Dr. LeLann.

Everyone knew Blue Astra as "Smiley", as this was the smilingest Bouvier you would ever run into. Returned to Deewall when she was about one year old for being too small, Smiley went on to become the breed's number one top producing dam in the history of the breed with sixteen champions to her credit - a record that stood for many years until recently broken by the very fabulous import.

Smiley not only finished her championship, but had points towards her Canadian championship and placed in the Groups there.  Her pups were extremely long-lived with one, Rueben, owned by Dr. Paul Fox of Waukesha, Wisconsin still living at the age of thirteen. Her get were known for extremely good temperament, longevity and good health. Of those that carry on the lines of Smiley, most notably was Am/Can Ch. Deewal Dark Shadows, the foundation of the Gwschenders Rombo Bouviers, and she can be found in many of the pedigrees from the Deewal Bouviers des Flandres line. Smiley qualified as a top producer in 1981 and l985. Her sixteen champions came from six litters, each having a different sire. Ch. Deewal Charger is the sire of six of the title holders while Ch. Deewal D'Aribus sired four of the champions.
