The Samuel May House was the home of Col. Andrew Jackson May one of the organizers of the 10th Kentucky Cavalry. The house may have serves as a recruiting station for CSA forces in the Big Sandy Valley.
UNION
Organized in October 1861 at Louisa, Lawrence County, KY. The men were mainly fron Lawrence, Johnson, Floyd and Pike Counties. Site contains History, Service record, Photos, 1890 Veterans Census and burials.
Raised by Colonel John Dils at Peach Orchard, Lawrence County, KY. Mustered into Service February 16, 1863. Comprised of men from the Big Sandy Region.
