Even though this was our first rainy day, we managed to fill it with a lot of activities.
Our first stop was at the Bell Meade Plantation which is also known as the "Queen of Tennessee Plantations." The 1853 mansion was world renowned as a thoroughbread stud farm. Notice the large and sprawling tree to the right of the house. This tree is called a Yellow Wood Tree and it smells like sweet magnolias. It only blooms once every seven years and the blooms last for about two weeks. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience this phenomenon.
We then drove downtown and had some fun at the new Nascar Cafe. This building is filled with race cars and is a museum for famous drivers. We enjoyed a ride which simulates driving in a race car going about 180 miles per hour. It was so much fun being tossed around!!!
We had our pictures taken in our favorite drivers' cars. Mine of course is the best driver ever...EARNHART, and Rev is in the runner up....Gordon....(he thinks he is Wonder Boy...NOT!)
The last stop of the day was at the famous Wildhorse Saloon. Here we could try to do some "boot scooten" (or "sneaker scooten" as in our case) on the 3,300 square-foot dance floor. It was relaxing just sitting back and listening to country music and seeing cowboys and girls do the two step and line dance.
The highlight of the day was meeting new Kinko's friends.
This is the Nashville West End Store and Cathy, the face behind the voice. Cathy assured me by phone a couple of weeks ago, not to worry about tornados in Nashville...and then BLAM...the next day the city is hit. So much for your advice Cathy. This was the number one store last year. Congratulations Cathy and co-workers!
David is my other new friend and is the General Manager of the Downtown store. He shared with us interesting tornado stories. David is a hero because he helped get people off the street and into the Kinko's basement during the storm. He was even featured on Hard Copy, but he said having his picture taken with me made him more nervous!
It was my PLEASURE meeting both of you and your friendly co-workers.
