Day 5 - Nashville/Opryland Hotel

The day started out to be a disappointment because our plans were to visit The Hermitage. This was the home of President Andrew Jackson. We immediately knew something was wrong when we saw numerous large trees uprooted all over the place. The ranger would not allow anyone into the grounds because of this. He said that the tornado destroyed about 1000 trees and some of them were ones that Jackson had planted. They just got electricity back yesterday and were not expected to open until May 18. We looked forward to this visit and so this was a big let down.

We turned around and went down the road to visit the Opryland Hotel and Indoor Gardens. This is a picture of one of the entrances. The hotel covers 4.5 acres and features numerous shops, restaurants, a fountain that sends jets of water 85 feet into the air, and a river that runs through it complete with passenger-carrying boats.

We ate a Cinco de Mayo luncheon on a little island surrounded by water and were entertained by a water show.

The Delta Ride up the river.

Pictures of the fountains one which rises 85 feet into the air.

I felt that this was an interesting shot of water cascading over a man made mountain.

Ahhhhhhhhhh! Rev and Pookie enjoying the end of a relaxing day.
