There are many John and William Sawyers in the Pasquotank, Camden and Perquaimous area. Finding one John or one William is like looking for a needle in a haystack! A few lines in that area have been identified. It could be that the line that eventually went to South Carolina may have left some relatives in some of those counties. At this time it is not known........I just keep searching!
Hotten's Original Lists, William and Thomas Sawyer came to Warwick Squeak, Vriginia, on the ship, Hopewell in 1625. Their ages were given as 18 and 23.
Virginia Quit Rent Rolls, 1704 list Thomas Sawyer 180 acres in Nansemond County.
