My line: Starts with John Sawyer born 1730 in Passquotank County, N. C. and died in Edgefield District, S. C. 1784. Family tales told long ago states there were two generations here before "old John"..........this leads us to the big question, "Who were John's parents and grandparents....and where did they originate"....that is my quest. Suspicions, but no proof, was that John's father was named William and that John's Grandfather was also named William. Family tales also tell us that the first ancestor came from London to "somewhere" in Virginia, then to the Pasquotank area of North Carolina and then on to Edgefield County, South Carolina. If true, this would take us back to 1670 or earlier.
I am starting this line from what is KNOWN at this point. We continue to research the Sawyer line and are vigorously searching for the parents and grandparents of "Old John" and the origin of this line of Sawyers.
