Joseph Perry of Perquimans Co., NC moved to Hertford County about 1765. He was a brother of Josiah Perry. A deed from Wm. W. Stephens of Hertford County to Joseph Perry of Perquimans County, for a tract of land in the Harrellsville section for 200 acres of land adjoining the lands of Lazarus Thomas, dated June 20, 1765, and witnessed by Benjamin Perry, Phillip Perry and Joel Hollowell, Jr. This land was part of the patent of Adam Baring dated April 19, 1717. Will dated 1 April 1773, proved 26 Jul 1774, Perquimans Co., NC. In the name of God amen. I Joel Hollowell of the Provance of North Carolina and County of Perqimans being very sick and weak fo body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the unsertanty of this transetory life and the sertanty of death doe make constute and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth, Viz. Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Abner Hollowell a corner of land lying on the north side of the juneper swamp to him and his heirs for ever. I Levi Hollowell of Martin in the State of North Carolina being in a declining state of bodily health but of sound perfect mind, memory and understanding, praise be therfore given to almighty God, do make and ordain this my present Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to say first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God, hoping through the merits, death and passion of my Savior Jesus Christ to have full and free forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to earth to be desently buried at discretion of my executors hereafter named, and as touching the disposition of all such temporal state as it hath please Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose therof as followeth. First I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged. Item I give unto my wife Zilphy one third of the land where I now live during her life or widowhood and afterwards to descend and belong to my son John. Item I give unto my daughter Mary one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one linning wheel, one tub and pail and chest, three pewter plates, one small pot. I give the above bounded tract of land unto my son John, his heirs administrators and assigns forever. Also I give him one horse by the name of Princess, two ccows and calves and a heffer in possession and their issue and all my coopers tools and my carpenters tools, one sheep, and all the rest and residue of my goods, chattels and houshold stuff. Whatever unwilled I give to my wife Zilphy Hollowell and my son John Hollowell full and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament. I do hereby disannul and make void all other wills and Testaments and acknowledge this to be my Last will and Testament. SOURCE: Although no marriage record of Charity and Joel has been found, they were married prior to 1758 when her mother's will was written. One of the witnesses to the will was Sarah LASHER or LASKER. One of the neighbors of Joel Sanders and Absalom Hollowell in Bertie Co., NC was Jacob LASKER. The will of Sarah Hollowell was not recorded in Norfolk Co., VA, but appeared in the records. It is possible that the copy of the will was used to prove heirship, because Joel and Absalom were in Bertie Co., NC in 1758.

To all People to whom these presents Shall come Greeting in our Lord God Everlasting Know yee that I Edward Outlaw of the precinct of Bertie County planter for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred & fifty four Pounds Current money of this province to me in hand paid before the Ensealing and Delivery hereof by Thomas Hollowell of Northampton County planter the receipt whereof I Do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, Bargained, Sold, Alliened, Enfeoffed, Released, Conveyed, and Confirmed and by these presents Doe fully freely Clearly and Absolutely give, grant, Bargain, Sell, Allign, Enfeoff Release Convey and Confirm unto him the said Thomas Hollowell his heirs and assigns forever all that my Certain Plantation & Tract of Land that my Father gave me Scituate Lying and being in Bertie County aforesd. on the South West Side of the Flatt Swamp Beginning at a pine in the Flatt Swamp then South to a white Oak a corner tree of Joel Sanders thence Along A Line of New Markt trees to a Black Oak Another of the said Sanders' Corners thence Along the Old Line to the Flat Swamp So up the Flatt Swamp to the first Station, Containing by Estimation Three Hundred & Twenty Acres be the Same more or Less Together with all and Singular the Woods underwoods waters and Water Courses and all and Singular the appurtces to the said plantation and tract of Land belonging To Have & to Hold the said plantation and tract of Land with all the appurtces thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Thomas Hollowell his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only Sole use benefit and behoof forever and I the said Edward Outlaw at the time of the Ensealing and Delivery here of Do Avouch my Self to be the true Sole and Lawfull Owner of the said prebargained and Sold Land and premises & apputces and that the said Land is freely and Clearly Acquitted Exonerated and Discharged of and from all and all manner of Incumbrances of what Nature and kind soever and I the Said Edwd. Outlaw Do Covenant and agree for my Self my heirs Exrs. and Admrs. to warrant and forever Defend the said plantation and tract of Land with the premises & appurtces there unto belonging & appertaining unto him the said Thos. Hollowell his heirs and assigns forever against the Lawfull Claims and Demands of all Persons whatsoever Claiming any Right title or Interest there unto or to any part or parcell thereof. 63. Absalom4 HOLLOWELL (20.Thomas3, 4.Henry2, 1.Thomas1) was born 28 Aug 1725 in Bertie Co., NC. Absalom died 9 Feb 1795 in Northampton Co., NC, at the age of 69. He married Mary HARGROVE 19 Feb 1750 in Norfolk Co., VA. She was born 12 Sep 1722 in Isle of Wight Co, VA. Mary died 14 Aug 1790 in Northampton Co., NC, at the age of 67.

On 3 May 1758 they were received at the Perquimans MM, Perquimans Co., NC. Later they settled in Northampton Co., NC where Absolom was appointed clerk of the Rich Square MM, Northampton Co., NC on 7 Jun 1760.

Northampton County, North Carolina. Know ye that I, Absalom Hollowell of Northampton County and State of North Carolina am vested in full right and possessed with a considerable estate which for the love and goodwill I have towards my two children Elizabeth Hollowell and Samuel Hollowell have possessioned to them in the following manner, viz. It is my will and desire that my daughter Elizabeth Hollowell may have one of my fether beds and furniture and working wheel, one box iron heater, two sitting chairs, one pine chest to her only use and benefit and her heirs forever. It is my will and desire that my son Samuel Hollowell may have two feather beds and furniture, all my hogs and cattle, one desk, two tables, two trunks, four chairs and all the remaining part of my household goods and kitchen furniture, cedar chest and plantation utensils and all and everything of the remaining part of my property to him and his heirs forever.
