To all persons whome these may concern or may be come therewith having thought it expedient considering this uncertainty of time in this world to settle my worldly business and dispose of my little property in manner and form as followeth vizt. Being in perfect mind and memory. In the first place my will is that all my just debts be rightly settled by my executors hereafter named. Secondly I give unto my wife Martha Hollowell the use of my plantation where I now live, with all the houses and woodling land sufficient to support it with two feather beds and furniture one large pine chest and as much of the other part of my household and kitchen furniture as she may think necessary & also plantation tools with a sufficiency of my sotck of all kinds as may be thought necessary during her natural life or widowhood and lastly I give unto my above said wife one horse gear & riding chair also one feather bed and furniture and one hundred & fifty dollars to her and her disposal. Item I give to my son Caleb Hollowell a certain piece or parcel of land lying on Turner Swamp beginning at the mouth of the big branch and up the said swamp & branch far enough to make three hundred & fifty acres to him and his heirs forever his Mothers life time excepted in it but giving him liberty to clear on the said and also to have full priviledge to what he has already cleared also one feather bed & furniture one cow and calf also my Turner Shop tools one small laythe one large one to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Hollowell two hundred dollars to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my sons Joseph, Thomas & Stephen Hollowell ten dollars to each of them to them their heirs forever. I, Thomas Hollowell of the County of Perquimans and State of No. Carolina do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner as followeth to wit. 1st It is my will that all my Just debts be discharged by those whom I appoint to Execute this will. 2nd It is my Will & Desire that my land be divided into three parts in the following manner that the line which divides & lays the south division begin in the Creek at the shipyard landing thence through the Swamp a strait course to the old Cow Bridge thence a strait course to my back line in such a direction as to Include one third of the high land exclusive of Creek & Creek Swamp & marsh thence by my southward & Eastward boundary to the first station - The division on the North part of my land to be as followeth to begin in the Creek at the Publick landing then a strait course through the swamp to the mouth of a Small branch making out of the Creek Swamp it being the first above the large branch or Swamp runin up by my orchard thence from the mouth of Said branch to the head thence a strait course to where my road crosses a branch at the southeast corner of my roadfield thence along my road toward the plantation to a branch or pond known by the name of the hide pond thence up said branch to the back side of my plantation thence a strait course to my back line So as to Include one third of my high land exclusive of Creek & Creek Swamp thence by my Northern & Eastern boundary to the first Station - 3rd I give & bequeath unto my son John Hollowell the Southern division of my land as Included in the first paragraph of Division with all the Swamp & Creek in said boundary only reserving the use thereof to my wife Mary Hollowell during her widowhood. I also give my said son John my Barn, one half of my Shoemaking Tools, one half of my carpenters tools & one whip Saw said Land, barn & tools to him & his heirs forever. 4th I give & bequeath unto my Son Thomas Hollowell the middle division of my Land it being the part whereon my dwelling house stands with all the Creek & Swamp included in said middle division only reserving the use thereof to my wife Mary Hollowell during her widowhood also reserving my shoemaking shop to my son Aaron Hollowell I also give my said son Thomas the other half of my shoemaking tools said Land & tools (allowing the reserves herein mentioned) to him & his heirs forever. 5th I give & bequeath unto my Son Aaron Hollowell the northern division of my land including the Creek & Swamp in said boundary only reserving the use thereof to my wife Mary Hollowell during her widowhood, I also give my said son Aaron my shoemaking shop and one hand Mill which I desire my said wife to keep in her care till he arrives to Lawful age, said land, shop & mill (allowing the reserves aforesaid) to him & his heirs forever. 6th I give & bequeath unto my son Nathan Hollowell Two Hundred Silver Dollars to him & his heirs forever, but if either of my aforesaid sons John, Thomas, or Aaron Hollowell should die before they arrive to the age of Twenty one years it is my will that my son Nathan Should have his part of the Land so devised & that the money given to my said son Nathan be equally divided between him & the two surviving brothers to him and his heirs forever & them & their heirs. 7th I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Hollowell one fether bead & furniture her choice of my riding beasts one cow & calf & one linnin wheel to her & her disposal. 8th I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Hollowell one Feather bead & furniture one Cow & calf one linnen wheel, & one Iron pot to her & her heirs forever. 9th I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Mary D. Hollowell one feather bead & furniture only reserving the use there of unto my wife aforesaid during her widowhood to her & her heirs forever. 10th I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Rebeca Hollowell one Feather bead & furniture (only reserving the use thereof to my said wife during her widowhood) to her & her heirs forever. 11th I give the use of all the remaining part of my Estate not heretofore mentioned together with the use of my Land and Premises to my wife Mary Hollowell during her widowhood but if in case she should Marry I give said remainder then to be equally divided amongst her my son Nathan & my three daughters Sarah, Mary D., & Rebecca Hollowell, but if in case Nathan should become possessed of one Division of the land by the death of one of his brothers then that his part of said remainder be divided equally Among him & his two surviving brothers but if my said wife should continue in widowhood during her natural life I give said remainder at her deceas to be divided amongst my son Nathan & my three Daughters aforesaid in the same manner & with the same proviso as aforesaid. 12th And lastly I nominate constitute & appoint my wife Mary Hollowell my Executrix & her Brothers Restore Lamb & John Lamb my Executors to see this my will fulfiled & done hereby Ratifying & Confirming this and no other to be my last will & Testament in manner & form as it now stands according to the true intent and meaning thereof. The foregoing will was wrote by me Thomas Hollowell & contains my last will & testament but for want of witness present it is not signed and if in case it should not hereafter be done I desire it may not be set a Side or made void on that account, as my hand writing is pretty well known, I believe there are many who can Testify thereto.
